Dining at the Golden Arches

Patrons have been flocking to dine at The Oriana’s Golden Arches. No, it is not another branch of McDonalds but just as popular.

The dramatic 3-metre-long pale green / gold flower spike of the agaves attract, as well as buzzing bees, our feathered native patrons to The Oriana’s garden to feast on the flowers and seed pods.

Rainbow Lorikeets at lunch.

Agaves grow extremely well by the sea, so The Oriana is fortunate to have many plants in the garden – which is perhaps just as well as the plant only produces a flower once in its lifetime, usually after 10–20 years and then dies. Its flowering is its last hurrah!

We cannot always guarantee that one of our many agaves may be flowering when you stay, but the sulphur-crested cockatoos and friendly lorikeets are always a delight.
