Restaurant Review – Ormeggios at the Spit

Fi Bendall Fi Bendall February 16, 2012 Oriana Blog

Having the wonderful pleasure of knowing one of Australia’s top fine food bloggers, Rebecca Varidel from www.insidecuisine.com, I am fortunate to often be invited to some of Sydney’s greatest restaurants and meet the celebrity chefs behind them and the food.

One of those restaurants was one local to us, Omeggio at the Spit led by wonderful chef Alessandro Pavoni, who quickly captured the lower north shores hearts and stomachs with his one hat restaurant nestled on the harbour shoreline. Surrounded by glittering water, wonderful views and some of Sydney’s most spectacular boats, Ormeggio surprises and delights in its relaxed atmosphere whilst delivering a fine dining experience.

The food is inspired by Alessandro’s Italian heritage from the region of Lombardia, with fresh ideas, amazing pasta (as you would expect) but also twists on cooking styles that make the food come alive, especially two of my favourite the risotto and the spit roasted lamb! You can share in the recipes here and also have a risotto masterclass with Alessandro via Inside Cuisine here
You can even read more about my first dining experience at Ormeggios at the Spit on this Girls Night Out post I keep going back!

If you are staying at The Oriana be sure to put it on your list of nights out!
