Although there is always something exciting for visitors to Sydney to enjoy throughout the year – exhibitions, plays, opera, ballet, sporting events etc, you do not have to go far when staying at The Oriana to enjoy events and exhibitions right on The Oriana’s doorstep.

These are three such events over the next few months held locally.

The Mosman Art Gallery has an extensive collection of works by famous artists, sponsors regular visiting themed exhibits and awards the coveted Mosman Art Prize each year. The 2018 winners will be on show from Wednesday 26 September – Sunday 18 November 2018.

“On Balmoral Beach”. Ethel Carrick Fox 1913

In 2010, Neil Balnaves AO, a long term Mosman resident, donated paintings from his personal art collection to the Mosman Art Gallery. The Balnaves Gift features sixteen Australian Impressionist and early twentieth century artworks including key works by Arthur Streeton, Conrad Martens, Will Ashton and Ethel Carrick Fox.

The Rotunda, Balmoral Beach

A number of free outdoor concerts at Balmoral’s Rotunda will be staged over the next few months.  These are not to be missed.

On 19th October 5 pm to 8.30pm be treated  Classical sounds by the Beach featuring performances by choirs and orchestra.  The evening includes the magnificent voice of outstanding soprano Amelia Farrugia as she shares her favourite repertoire from opera, operetta and music theatre – all this against the stunning sunset backdrop of Balmoral Beach…..and a stone’s throw from The Oriana.

Royal Australian Navy Rock band, Sea State Seven, will have the crowd up dancing to their highly energetic performance of pop, rock classics and new releases on Friday 26th October, 2018.

There are two Outdoor Cinema events planned in the next few months at Mosman Square.

Dust off your safari suits and get the kids into their animal onesies for a Mosman Council organised free outdoor cinema jungle adventure, Jumanji on 20th October 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The action starts as four teenagers are transported into the video game world of Jumanji in the bodies of their avatars. Uniting with another player, they must overcome the game’s magical power in order to survive the game, win and return home.

The all-age comedy film Peter Rabbit will be shown on Saturday 27th October.  This is a chance to dress wear your overalls and straw hats and dress your kids as farm folk or bunnies.

Although dressing up is up to you, lucky door prizes will be drawn on the two nights for those who do.
